Veronica Roth explores new 'Divergent' film adaptations

Author Veronica Roth has indicated the possibility of a new film adaptation for the 'Divergent' franchise, following the release of her new novel, 'The Sixth Faction'. The book offers a reimagined look at the original dystopian universe and is part of a duology that includes 'The Last Testimony', scheduled for release in February 2027.

Roth confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that she has shared the new material with relevant parties to explore adaptation opportunities. While open to the idea, she emphasized that her primary focus remains on literature.

The original film series, produced by Lionsgate, concluded with 'Allegiant' in 2016. Plans for a final film, 'Ascendant', were canceled following disappointing box office results, and subsequent attempts to transition the story into a television series failed as lead actors Shailene Woodley and Theo James chose not to return to their roles.
