Veronika's Recovery After Life-Threatening Brain Hemorrhage

Veronika, a 39‑year‑old from South Moravia, experienced a sudden, severe headache and collapse in summer 2024. A CT scan at a hospital in Břeclav revealed a ruptured aneurysm on a brain artery, causing intracerebral bleeding. She was rushed to FN Brno, where surgeons temporarily removed part of her skull to relieve swelling. After stabilisation, she was transferred to Chronicare Brno for intensive rehabilitation.

A multidisciplinary team—including chief physician Petr Jelínek, nurses, physiotherapists, speech therapists and other specialists—worked on relearning basic functions such as breathing, swallowing, communication, feeding and self‑care. Two years later, Veronika’s condition is described as “a miracle,” with ongoing speech therapy and gradual improvement. Her mother and teenage children have welcomed her return home, supporting her continued progress.
