Versailles to transform historic Récollets convent into luxury hotel

The former Récollets convent in Versailles, a historic site located near the Palace of Versailles, is set to be transformed into a luxury hotel complex by 2030. The project was officialized through a collaboration between the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and the City of Versailles.

The site, which was originally built approximately 350 years ago by architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart, is currently occupied by the Defense Infrastructure Service (SID). As part of the redevelopment plan, the SID will be relocated to a more functional site at the Satory plateau. This relocation will allow for a deep renovation of the historic monument to accommodate an international prestige hotel partner.

Versailles Mayor François de Mazières stated that the project aims to restore a building that has been disfigured by recent additions and to boost the city's economic and touristic attractiveness. The transformation is expected to revitalize the Saint-Louis historic district and support international events held at the nearby Palace of Versailles.
