Versalis and Filctem Cgil clash over union assembly rights
A new conflict has emerged between the Filctem Cgil union and Versalis in Ravenna. The union reported that the company denied them use of the union hall for a scheduled assembly on September 10.
Versalis reportedly suggested moving the meeting to the much larger Sala Mattei, citing capacity concerns. The union rejected this offer, calling the reasoning unrealistic and an attempt to interfere with their activities. Following the refusal, company officials allegedly requested that everyone leave the premises and locked the hall. As a result, the assembly was held outdoors under the porticos in front of the locked room.
Fabio Rossi, General Secretary of Filctem Cgil Ravenna, described the company's actions as an intolerable interference in union activities and a lack of respect for employees. He stated that the union intends to use all available means to protect their rights and dignity.
