Vertex Co., Ltd. survey shows rising living costs impact 70% of Japanese respondents

A survey of 20,000 people conducted by Vertex Co., Ltd. reveals that 70.1% of respondents in Japan have experienced increased daily living expenses due to rising prices. Over half of the participants (54.3%) reported having no financial leeway to cover living costs with their current income.

Food and utility costs were identified as the primary drivers of household budget pressure. Regarding asset formation, approximately 30% of respondents have utilized NISA. While real estate investment has the highest recognition rate at 43.5%, it has the lowest actual implementation rate at 5.3%, suggesting that information asymmetry and procedural complexity remain significant barriers to entry.
