Vertical acquires rights to ‘Cliffhanger’ reboot starring Lily James

Vertical has acquired the U.S. rights to the ‘Cliffhanger’ reboot, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Lily James and Pierce Brosnan. The acquisition follows the implosion of distributor Row K, which had previously held the rights to the project.

Vertical is aiming for a wide theatrical release in the spring of 2027. The film is a reimagining of the 1993 Sylvester Stallone hit and is set in the Dolomites. The plot follows a legendary mountaineer, played by Brosnan, and his daughter, played by James, as they face a kidnapping attempt by a ruthless gang.

The deal was negotiated by Vertical’s acquisition team and CAA Media Finance, with Rocket Science handling international sales.
