Vertiv expands AI data center capabilities through dual acquisitions

Vertiv Holdings Co is expanding its digital infrastructure capabilities through two strategic acquisitions aimed at supporting the growing power and cooling demands of AI-driven data centers.

Vertiv has reached an agreement to acquire UtilityInnovation Group (UIG) for approximately $1.45 billion in cash, with potential additional payments of up to $1.15 billion based on EBITDA targets. This acquisition is intended to bolster Vertiv’s presence in grid interconnection, microgrid controls, and on-site energy storage, helping data center operators navigate power availability constraints.

Additionally, Vertiv has agreed to acquire King Environmental Services Ltd (KES), a European provider specializing in fluid management, commissioning, and load testing for high-density liquid-cooled data centers. Based near Dublin, Ireland, KES will expand Vertiv’s thermal management service capabilities across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) regions. The KES deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
