VeryDarkMan sparks debate across Nigeria's religious, political, and legal sectors
Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has sparked widespread debate in Nigeria through various public criticisms targeting religious, political, and legal institutions.
In the religious sphere, Otse’s public challenges to Apostle Arome Osayi have prompted discussions regarding the appropriate way for Christians to address theological disagreements and potential religious hypocrisy without resorting to personal mockery.
Politically, Otse has criticized President Bola Tinubu, alleging growing impunity among government officials following remarks by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Otse warned that the electorate remains more powerful than individual politicians and cautioned against the use of tribal and religious divisions.
Regarding the legal sector, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Ibrahim Gamdeh Adamu acknowledged that while Otse’s criticisms of the legal profession were hurtful, they contained truths that necessitate introspection. Adamu, who questioned Otse’s credentials following his appearance at the Nigerian Bar Association’s conference, called for reforms including stricter accreditation for law faculties and mandatory internships for new lawyers.
