VeryDarkMan threatens MTN Nigeria with lawsuit over Dangote IPO ads

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has threatened legal action against MTN Nigeria following the receipt of a promotional message regarding the Dangote Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO) on his private line.

In a social media video, Otse questioned how his phone number, which is linked to his National Identification Number (NIN), was used for a commercial campaign without his consent. He demanded an explanation from the telecommunications provider regarding the handling of personal data and the unauthorized use of his private line for third-party advertising.

The dispute occurs as Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has launched its public offer, featuring 4.1 billion ordinary shares. While some subscribers reported receiving similar messages, Otse also criticized the IPO, suggesting the company should focus on reducing the costs of essential goods like fuel and cement rather than seeking public investment.
