Veselí nad Moravou and Milevsko announce August cultural festivals
Several Czech towns are preparing for significant cultural celebrations in late August. Veselí nad Moravou will mark its 770th anniversary with a multi-day program from August 21 to 23. The festivities include musical performances by various ensembles, a summer cinema screening, a historical exhibition mapping the town's history since 1256, and the official opening of the reconstructed Míru Square. Activities for families will include games, markets, and horse-drawn carriage rides.
In Milevsko, the traditional Bartolomějské posvícení will take place from August 27 to 30. The event features a diverse lineup, starting with a tribute concert to conductor Oldřich Vlček at the Milevsko monastery basilica, featuring the Virtuosi di Praga orchestra and baritone Roman Janal. Other scheduled highlights include rock performances by Petr Kotvald and Janka Ledecká, hunting festivals, sports demonstrations from local clubs, and various family-oriented activities in the Bažantnice park.
