Veselin Milić retains police assistant director status amid criminal trial

Serbian Interior Minister in a technical mandate, Ivica Dačić, has confirmed that Veselin Milić remains the assistant director of police. Dačić clarified that while Milić was previously removed from his role as head of the Belgrade Police Administration, his permanent job title is assistant director, a position that cannot be changed until his ongoing criminal proceedings are concluded.

Milić is currently facing charges related to the murder of Aleksandar Nešović at the ‘27’ restaurant. The allegations include failing to report a criminal offense and falsifying official documents. Dačić noted that since Milić was released from custody, the legal grounds for his removal from his specific workplace have ceased, and the current charges do not mandate removal from his position.

Milić, who gained significant public attention following the ‘Vladislav Ribnikar’ school shooting, is scheduled to appear in the First Basic Court in Belgrade on November 9.
