Veselin Milić's lawyers say no evidence in Senjak murder case

Lawyers from Vasiljević Legal, representing former Belgrade police chief Veselin Milić, have broken a three‑week media silence about his detention after a murder at the Senjak restaurant. In a statement they said no evidence has been presented linking Milić to the crime and criticized the investigation as “malicious and manipulative.”

Milić’s full testimony, submitted to the higher public prosecutor on 3 June 2026, denies any wrongdoing and asserts that he was not arrested but “naively answered the police call.” He claims he offered the truth to investigators, requested polygraph tests for himself and the officers, and was subsequently portrayed as a monster without any proof. The lawyers stress that he remains in pre‑trial detention despite the lack of corroborating evidence.

The case has drawn public attention in Serbia, with the defence urging the authorities to disclose any evidence and questioning the conduct of the police and prosecutors involved.
