Vesna Janevska calls for cooperation to manage AI risks

Vesna Janevska, the Minister of Education and Science, has called for increased international cooperation and inter-institutional action to address the risks posed by intelligent technologies. Speaking at the 17th international conference, ‘Security 2030: The Era of Smart Technologies, Resilient Societies – Risks and Challenges,’ organized by the Faculty of Security at St. Clement of Ohrid University, Janevska emphasized the need for resilient societies.

Janevska noted that as the boundary between the physical and digital worlds disappears, artificial intelligence and smart networks are becoming integral to cities, economies, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. This transformation introduces significant challenges, including expanded cyber threats, disinformation, and privacy protection concerns.

To protect children and ensure general national and global security, Janevska advocated for public-private partnerships and coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and the academic and scientific communities.
