Skopje public transport crisis sparks political accusations

In Skopje, SDSM councilor Keti Shterjova has accused Mayor Orce Georgievski of failing to provide functional and regular public transport nine months into his term. Shterjova claims that despite campaign promises of improved service and a sufficient number of buses, the public transport enterprise JSP remains in a catastrophic state, facing serious financial and operational issues, including broken buses and irregular schedules.

Separately, Education Minister Vesna Janevska has called for respect regarding school regionalization in the municipalities of Chair and Butel. She emphasized that regardless of ethnic background, students must attend school within their respective municipalities as dictated by law, noting that school decentralization falls under municipal competence.

In Kosovo, political commentator Lirim Gashi criticized opposition figures for focusing their political programs solely on opposing Prime Minister Albin Kurti. Meanwhile, former MP Safete Hadërgjonaj raised concerns regarding the lack of transparency in the Kosovo state budget and the failure of the Assembly to review government financial reports for 2024 and 2025.

In Albania, political analyst Grigels Muçollari commented on shifting political dynamics, noting that Sali Berisha is traveling to the US while Edi Rama faces legal scrutiny in American courts.
