Vespasiano fuel tanker crash kills driver and causes highway fire
A 49-year-old driver from Belo Horizonte died after a fuel tanker overturned and caught fire on the MG-010 highway in Vespasiano, Minas Gerais. The accident occurred around 4:45 AM near the Gran Park neighborhood in the direction of Confins.
The Minas Gerais Military Fire Brigade (CBMMG) responded to the scene, using approximately 4,000 liters of water to control the blaze, which consumed the vehicle. The tanker was carrying ethanol, and footage from the scene showed flames spreading across the roadway.
The highway remained closed for several hours as crews waited for the responsible company to perform a transshipment of the remaining fuel to prevent further incidents. Civil Police forensics were deployed to investigate the circumstances that led to the vehicle overturning.
