Vespera Automobili launches 765‑hp Iride Evo 5 restomod of Mercedes 190E Evolution II

Italian specialist Vespera Automobili presented its Iride Evo 5, a restomodded version of the 1990 Mercedes‑Benz 190E Evolution II. The car keeps the original chassis but is rebodied in carbon‑fiber, gaining a wider track and a large rear wing. Under the hood a 3.0‑litre Mercedes M103 inline‑six, equipped with a massive turbocharger, delivers between 765 hp and 776 hp and 910 Nm of torque, transmitted through a six‑speed manual to the rear wheels. Weighing about 1,450 kg, it accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and tops out near 300 km/h. The interior blends leather, Alcantara and carbon‑fiber accents; each vehicle will be hand‑built to order, with a unique paint finish. MotoGP rider Loris Capirossi contributed to the development, and Vespera positions the Iride Evo 5 as a more extreme alternative to HWA’s earlier Evolution II restomod.
