Vestel proposes two restructuring options for $500 million Eurobonds
Vestel Elektronik has announced a restructuring process for its $500 million Eurobonds, which currently carry a 9.75% annual interest rate and are due on May 15, 2029. The company is offering investors two distinct alternatives to create a more sustainable balance sheet.
The first option extends the maturity to May 15, 2035, with the annual interest rate reduced to 4%. This option maintains the full principal amount, with repayments scheduled in annual installments.
The second option offers a shorter maturity of May 15, 2032, but requires a 45% principal reduction. Under this plan, existing bonds would be exchanged for new Eurobonds with a nominal value equal to 55% of the original amount and a 6% annual interest rate. Vestel noted that this second option requires an application for approval from the Capital Markets Board.
In parallel, Vestel is negotiating with creditor banks for a separate financial restructuring. This proposal involves a 2041 maturity with a two-year grace period for both principal and interest payments.
