Vesthimmerland Municipality approves 2027 budget

The Vesthimmerland Municipal Council has reached a unanimous agreement on the 2027 budget. The plan focuses on reducing municipal debt and increasing investments in youth, education, and leisure facilities.

A central component of the agreement involves an extraordinary repayment of 51 million DKK in debt, which is expected to free up 8.3 million DKK annually over the next five budget years. Mayor Per Bach Laursen noted that these repayments address loans taken out while the municipality was under administration.

Priority areas in the budget include hiring more staff for Child and Family Counseling to provide more time per case, as well as funding for the maintenance and modernization of schools and daycare centers. The budget also supports initiatives to help young people transition into jobs and education.
