Vestlyd and Teufel announce new active speaker systems
Several audio companies are releasing new active speaker systems designed for diverse uses, ranging from high-fidelity music listening to home entertainment.
Vestlyd, a Danish brand based on the North Sea coast, has introduced the M6C and M8C coaxial active speakers. These models feature a combination of modern technology and a retro aesthetic, utilizing paper membrane woofers and titanium dome tweeters. The M8C is capable of reproducing frequencies below 40 Hz, potentially eliminating the need for a separate subwoofer for most music. The system consists of an active main speaker and a passive secondary speaker.
Berlin-based Teufel has released the Ultima 25 Aktiv 2, a reissue of its classic stereo set. This all-in-one system functions without an external amplifier and is marketed for TV, gaming, and home office use. It features Bluetooth 5.0 with Qualcomm aptX support, HDMI with ARC, DAB+, and USB-C connectivity. The system delivers 100 watts of total RMS power and includes a Dynamore Virtual Center function to improve dialogue clarity in films. It can be expanded into a surround sound system with additional speakers or a subwoofer.
