Vesuvius archaeological sites announce evening tours and cultural programs

The archaeological sites surrounding Mount Vesuvius are highlighting various historical and cultural offerings. The Pompeii Archaeological Park has announced a schedule of evening visits and theatrical events through October. These programs include guided walks through the ruins, such as the Piazza Anfiteatro route featuring the House of the Venus in the Shell, and shuttle services connecting the Villa of the Mysteries to Villa Regina and the Boscoreale Antiquarium.

While Pompeii remains the primary global symbol of the 79 AD eruption, other significant Roman settlements like Stabiae and Oplontis offer critical historical insights. These sites serve as involuntary archives of Roman daily life and volcanic activity, though they often receive less tourist attention than Pompeii or Herculaneum due to the concentrated focus on the most famous ruins.
