Veszprém HC dominates Sydney University to enter Club World Championship group stage

Veszprém HC has advanced to the group stage of the IHF Men's Club World Championship in Egypt after a dominant 45-19 victory over Australia's Sydney University in the qualifying round. The match, held in the New Administrative Capital, saw Veszprém establish control early, leading 25-6 at halftime.

Key performers for the Hungarian side included Máté Gáncs-Pető, who scored 13 goals, and Hugo Descat, who contributed 11. Brazilian defender Thiagus Petrus also played a significant role in the defense. Goalkeeper Emil Nielsen recorded a 50% save rate during the contest.

Veszprém now joins Group B for the main tournament phase. Their upcoming schedule includes matches against Egypt's Al Ahly SC, Germany's Füchse Berlin, and Kuwait's Burgan SC. The championship features ten teams representing six continents and concludes on October 1.
