Veszprém hosts European Youth Sumo Championships
The One Veszprém Arena hosted the opening of the European Youth Sumo Championships on September 19 and 20. The event brought together the continent's top young sumo wrestlers from nearly a dozen countries.
The opening ceremony included appearances by the Japanese Ambassador to Hungary, Kimura Tetsuya, Veszprém Mayor Gyula Porga, and the President of the European Sumo Federation, Dariusz Rozum. The championships feature U15 and U18 categories.
In addition to the matches, organizers introduced the ‘SPORTZÓNA’ initiative, providing family-oriented activities and health awareness programs for children and parents during competition breaks.
