VETA to train 400 local mining specialists in Tanzania

The Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) has launched a strategic initiative to train approximately 400 local specialists in the mining sector. This program follows international training sessions attended by VETA experts, who have returned to Tanzania to transfer their knowledge to local citizens.

To support this, VETA has introduced six new curricula focused on underground mining, designed to meet modern market demands and technological advancements. The initiative aims to increase Tanzanian participation in mining projects and reduce reliance on foreign experts.

Additionally, VETA Director General CPA Anthony Kasore highlighted the authority's broader strategy to provide vocational skills to youth across all regions and districts. To ensure accessibility, training costs have been set at 60,000 Tanzanian Shillings per year for day students and 120,000 Tanzanian Shillings for boarding students. The goal is to foster innovation and self-employment to meet current labor market needs.
