VETC connects 350 EV charging stations via new eRoaming platform

VETC has launched an eRoaming model to address the fragmentation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Vietnam. As the market for new energy vehicles grows, users have faced difficulties managing multiple applications, accounts, and payment methods for different charging networks.

Within two months of implementation, VETC has connected seven partners—including ChargeLink, EBOOST, ESKY, Ford Vietnam, Rabbit EVC, SmartCharge, and EV Charge—linking over 350 charging stations. This digital infrastructure aims to provide a unified platform based on the international OCPI standard, allowing users to locate, monitor, and pay for charging through a single application.

Data from VETC indicates a significant shift in the vehicle market, with new energy vehicles accounting for 28.9% of traffic accounts registered in the first half of 2026, up from 0.2% in 2022. While the eRoaming system improves connectivity, experts note that expanding physical infrastructure, station capacity, and equipment stability remain critical for the user experience.
