Actor Tom Chadbon, famed for Doctor Who and Game of Thrones, dies at 80
British veteran actor Tom Chadbon died at the age of 80, a fact confirmed by the events company Fantom Events. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Born in Luton on 27 February 1946, Chadbon enjoyed a career that spanned almost five decades and encompassed more than 120 television and film credits.
He is best remembered for his role as private detective Duggan in the 1979 Doctor Who serial “City of Death,” which attracted over 16 million viewers and remains the programme’s most‑watched episode. He returned to Doctor Who in 1986 as Merdeen. Chadbon also appeared as High Septon Maynard in the 2017 finale of HBO’s Game of Thrones and had a brief part in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale. Additional appearances included Peep Show, The Bill, Midsomer Murder, Where the Heart Is and Casualty.
