Veteran Canadian News Anchor Lloyd Robertson Dies at 92
Lloyd Robertson, the longtime chief anchor and senior editor of CTV National News, died on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the age of 92. His broadcasting career began in 1952 at CJCS radio in his hometown of Stratford, Ontario, later moving to CBC before joining CTV in 1976. He anchored CTV’s flagship newscast from 1984 until his retirement in 2011, ending each broadcast with the signature sign‑off, “That’s the kind of day it’s been.”
Robertson was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1998 and was voted Canada’s most trusted television journalist by TV Guide Canada readers for 11 consecutive years.
