Veteran memorial tournaments staged in Slavonia and Završje Podbelsko, Croatia

On 9 May 2026, the 21st Memorial "Zvonko Vidaković and Ilija Garić" chess tournament was held in Slavonski Brod under the Ministry of Croatian Veterans and the Slavonski Brod Disabled Chess Club. Marijan Kanjković of ŠK Vina Markota (Pleternica) won with 5.5 points, and the event marked the club's 130th tournament, which has historically attracted 2,437 senior players.

On 9 August 2026, the first‑time Mini‑football Memorial Dražen Šešet / Ivica Cecelja took place in Završje Podbelsko. Organized by the local volunteer fire‑department association (DVD Završje Podbelsko) with support from DVD Gačice, UDVDR PVŽ Ogranci Ivanec, Novi Marof and HVIDR‑Ivanec, the day featured matches, ball‑throwing, electronic darts and belot games. The event commemorated two Croatian veterans killed in 1991 and 1995 and was co‑sponsored by the city of Novi Marof and the Ministry of Croatian Veterans.
