Veteran Monty Goldstein, 102, decries rising antisemitism in Britain

Monty Goldstein, a 102‑year‑old Jewish veteran of the Royal Artillery who served in World War II, said Britain is "not the same" as it was when he was a boy, expressing sadness over a surge in antisemitic hate crimes. He recalled the anti‑Jewish atmosphere of the 1930s and urged fellow citizens to be proud of the nation while calling for better education about antisemitism in schools.

Goldstein referenced recent incidents, including the stabbing of two Jewish men in Golders Green, north London, in April and an arson attack on a former synagogue in Whitechapel, central London, in May. He emphasized that Jewish people today face hostility through no fault of their own and appealed for greater community understanding and protection.
