Veterinarian Manuel Santini Presents Animal Care Book in Viareggio as Italian Officials Warn Pets of Heat Risks

Veterinarian Manuel Santini will launch his new book, “La mia vita da veterinario. Storie e consigli per la cura degli animali,” at a free public presentation on 19 July 2026 from 17:00‑18:00 at the “Dolce Paradiso” kiosk in Viareggio. The volume, published by 5 Marzo, draws on Santini’s experience in small‑animal oncology and offers guidance on prevention, vaccination, pregnancy, oncology and home safety for dogs and cats. The event will include a discussion with journalist Letizia Tassinari and is part of the Second Festival of the Pineta di Ponente.

Separately, the Arezzo municipal assessor Antonella di Tommaso issued a public appeal on 17 July 2026 urging pet owners to protect dogs and cats from extreme summer heat. She highlighted the risk of heat‑stroke and dehydration, especially for brachycephalic breeds, and recommended keeping animals in shaded, cool areas, providing fresh water, and limiting outdoor activity to early mornings or evenings. The notice recalls European animal‑welfare regulations and warns that violations may trigger municipal intervention.
