Veterinary authorities in Bolivia and Ecuador launch disease prevention training

Sanitary authorities in Bolivia and Ecuador are conducting specialized training programs for veterinarians to strengthen the prevention and control of bovine brucellosis and tuberculosis.

In Tarija, Bolivia, the National Service of Agricultural Health and Food Safety (SENASAG) held theoretical and practical training sessions involving over 200 participants. The program focused on brucellosis and tuberculosis, with more than 40 veterinarians applying for accreditation. Once accredited, these professionals will be authorized to perform sanitary work at a national level.

In Ecuador, the Agency for Phytosanitary and Zoosanitary Regulation and Control (Agrocalidad) launched its seventh habilitation course for veterinarians. This initiative aims to enhance technical capacity for managing bovine brucellosis, a disease with significant implications for both livestock production and public health. The program, supported by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), has trained a total of 351 veterinarians to date through various sessions.
