Veterinary professionals hold specialized sessions on wildlife and pet welfare
The Faculty of Veterinary Sciences at the Universidad Nacional de Asunción (UNA) held a conference focused on the medicine of wild and exotic species. Organized by the Department of Faunistic Resources and the Natural Environment (DREFAMN), the event brought together professionals and students to discuss clinical cases, surgical treatments, and pharmacological applications for diverse species.
Key presentations included discussions on the professional responsibilities of wildlife veterinarians, the management of guinea pigs regarding Chlamydia spp. and its zoonotic impact, and general medicine for rabbits. The session also highlighted ongoing research into sanitary surveillance for wildlife health.
In Costa Rica, Universidad Fidélitas is hosting the “Huellitas de Conocimiento” pet fair to promote animal welfare and responsible ownership. The event features educational activities for families and professionals, including a roundtable discussion on the new regulations for the Companion Animal Reproduction Law. Experts will also address topics such as bite prevention in children.
