Vezirköprü district hosts 20th Kunduz oil wrestling festival

The 20th Kunduz Oil Wrestling Festival opened in Vezirköprü, a district of Samsun Province, with a vibrant parade that moved from Çamlık Park through the town centre to Köprülü Mehmet Paşa Park. The procession, accompanied by a mehter band, featured local officials—including District Governor Bayram Yıldız and Mayor Murat Gül—wrestling masters, athletes and many residents who applauded the display.

The festival, part of the Turkish Oil Wrestling League, will see 1,329 wrestlers compete at the Kunduz Boğazı venue over the weekend, with top wrestlers contesting the coveted gold belt. Participants arrived from various Turkish cities, and the event is expected to draw strong local interest throughout the competition days.
