VfB Krieschow prepares for DFB-Pokal match against Mainz 05

VfB Krieschow, a fifth-tier Oberliga club from a village of approximately 560 residents, is preparing for a DFB-Pokal first-round match against Bundesliga side FSV Mainz 05. The club qualified for the tournament after defeating Energie Cottbus in the regional cup final.

Krieschow coach Robert Koch, who previously achieved cup upsets with Dynamo Dresden, stated that the team intends to compete actively rather than simply defending. The squad includes veteran defender Alexander Bittroff, a former professional player who now works as a sports teacher.

Due to the high interest in the match, the local stadium capacity has been doubled to accommodate 4,000 spectators.
