DAZN secures rights for 2027 Africa Cup of Nations
Streaming service DAZN has secured broadcasting rights for major African football competitions, most notably the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027, in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. This edition will be the first to be held during the summer months rather than the winter. DAZN plans to broadcast all 52 matches live, including the qualification rounds running from September 2026 to March 2027.
In addition to the Africa Cup of Nations, DAZN will also broadcast African club football, such as the CAF Champions League.
In the European market, the landscape of football broadcasting is shifting. While DAZN currently holds rights for the UEFA Champions League, Paramount+ is expected to take over the majority of Champions League broadcasts in Germany starting from the 2027/28 season, planning to produce and transmit 184 of the 203 matches per season.
