VfL Bochum gears up for 2. Bundesliga opener as 15‑year‑old Berit Pohlmann eyes pro career

Berit Pohlmann, a 15‑year‑old goalkeeper from Waltrop, has been playing for VfL Bochum’s U17 side since she was eleven. Recognised early by VfB Waltrop, she now dreams of a professional football career and balances school, friends and training.

VfL Bochum will open its 2026/27 2. Bundesliga campaign on 7 August at the Vonovia‑Ruhrstadion against Hertha BSC. Coach Uwe Rösler has confirmed the starting eleven, with captain Timo Horn in goal, Yigit Karademir in central defence, and midfielders Jean Manuel Mbom and Enis Cokaj. The lineup also features forwards Philipp Hofmann and Alessandro Crimaldi. Hertha BSC travel to Bochum after a summer of squad changes, aiming to improve on last season’s performance.
