VfL Bochum concludes Austrian training camp with test match against Werder Bremen
VfL Bochum spent a week in a pre‑season training camp at Bramberg am Wildkogel in Austria. The camp ended with a friendly against Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, where new signing Karol Mets started the match for Bochum. Coach Uwe Rösler said the squad must "overcome the inner dog" and praised the players' performance and fitness levels.
In the same game Werder Bremen’s 18‑year‑old striker Paul Erevbenagie impressed, scoring and earning praise from his coach Daniel Thioune. The match served as a final assessment before Bochum’s first league game of the season.
Other German clubs, such as SC Freiburg, also held pre‑season test matches in Austria during the same period.
