VFLL approves union cooperation and confirms Frankfurt Book Fair presence
The Verband der Freien Lektorinnen und Lektoren (VFLL) has announced several strategic developments during its annual meeting and upcoming participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair.
At its annual general meeting, members voted to cooperate with the ver.di trade union to advocate for improved working conditions and fair pay for freelance editors. The association also updated its code of conduct to take a firm stance against discrimination and extremism while emphasizing the essential value of human editing in contrast to generative artificial intelligence.
Additionally, the VFLL confirmed its presence at the Frankfurt Book Fair from October 7 to 11, 2026. The association aims to use the event to increase the visibility of freelance editing, support potential members, and foster professional networking. During the meeting, Ute Gräber-Seißinger was honored as a new honorary member for her long-standing service to the organization.
