vhh. mobility launches new solar plant in Hamburg-Billbrook
vhh. mobility (Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH) has commissioned a new photovoltaic system at its Billbrook site in Hamburg. The facility, located on the grounds of a former freight station, is expected to generate approximately 340,000 kWh of electricity per year to power electric bus charging.
Combined with an existing installation at the Schenefeld depot, the company’s total annual solar production has risen to approximately 910,000 kWh. This output is equivalent to roughly 2,800 electric bus charging cycles. The two sites together feature a peak output of up to 930 kWp using 2,047 solar modules. Managing Director Lorenz Kasch stated that depots are evolving from mere maintenance sites into critical energy supply hubs through the integration of charging infrastructure and photovoltaics.
