Vhong Navarro to pursue legal remedies after court modifies Lee and Cornejo convictions

Actor-host Vhong Navarro intends to pursue all available legal remedies following a Court of Appeals ruling that modified the convictions of Deniece Cornejo and Cedric Lee. The appellate court downgraded the conviction of Lee, Cornejo, and two co-accused from serious illegal detention for ransom to grave coercion, reducing the potential sentence to a range of six months to approximately three and a half years.

Despite the court order for their release regarding this specific case, Cornejo and Lee remain in custody. The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is currently reviewing court documents and sentence computations, noting that both individuals are also serving sentences for a separate grave coercion conviction. BuCor stated that sentences must be administered successively and is awaiting an ‘Entry of Judgment’ and other clearances before making a final determination on their release.

Navarro’s counsel, Alma Mallonga, stated that her client maintains faith in the justice system and will abide by the final results of the legal process once all remedies have been exhausted.
