VHP clarifies Durga Puja guidelines and addresses Mohan Bhagwat event controversy

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) spokesperson Alok Kumar has addressed controversies regarding alleged new guidelines for Durga Puja pandals in West Bengal. Kumar clarified that the organization has not issued any official directives or decisions regarding vegetarian or non-vegetarian food at these festival sites.

He explained that the VHP holds meetings with organizers before major festivals to discuss traditions, cultural aspects, and maintaining a devotional atmosphere. While suggestions regarding cleanliness and hygiene at food stalls were made during a press conference, Kumar emphasized these are merely suggestions for organizers to implement at their discretion, not mandatory orders.

Additionally, Kumar commented on the controversy surrounding RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s upcoming global outreach program in New York. He expressed concern over the social media backlash and protests preceding the event, which is expected to host approximately 5,000 attendees.
