Via Appia cultural projects to be presented in Paestum

A series of cultural initiatives dedicated to the Via Appia, known as the ‘Regina Viarum’, will be presented on October 31 at the Mediterranean Archaeological Tourism Exchange in Paestum.

One major project is a docufilm titled ‘La Via Appia on the road,’ created by screenwriter Gian Luca Campagna and director Christian Antonilli. The film aims to document the 540-kilometer route from Rome to Brindisi, focusing on the living heritage of the area, including landscapes, traditions, and local communities. Filming is scheduled to begin in April 2027 across four regions and ten provinces.

Additionally, the Polifonica Pontina will perform a theater-concert titled ‘USQUE AD APPIUM FORUM AC TRES TABERNAS (nec solum)’ at the Church of San Paolo Apostolo in Tor Tre Ponti. The performance combines choral singing and historical storytelling to explore the history and personalities associated with the Via Appia, including references to the travels of Paul of Tarsus.
