Viña Campinas sanctioned for employing undocumented workers
Labor inspectors have sanctioned Viña Campinas S. L., a company belonging to the business group of the family of José González Vázquez, the Galician Counselor of Employment, Commerce, and Emigration. The sanctions follow the detection of two undocumented foreign workers during the 2025 grape harvest in the O Ribeiro region.
Viña Campinas S. L. is responsible for managing the vineyards that supply grapes to Bodegas Casal de Armán, a winery linked to the González Vázquez family. While the Counselor is not currently a listed owner, he was a partner in the winery with his siblings until 2018, when he left his business interests upon joining the Galician government.
Representatives of the company stated that the workers were provided by a temporary employment agency (ETT) and argued they were unaware of the lack of proper documentation. The company claims to have filed a report with law enforcement regarding the alleged misuse of identity documents. The exact amount of the fine has not been officially confirmed, though sanctions for such irregularities typically range between 10,000 and 100,000 euros per irregular worker.
