Via D’Amelio: Investigations intensify one month after Judge Borsellino massacre
One month after the Via D’Amelio massacre, which claimed the lives of Judge Paolo Borsellino and five escort agents, the Caltanissetta District Prosecutor's Office is intensifying its investigations.
The inquiry is proceeding along three primary tracks: scientific analysis of the explosives and ignition mechanism used in the attack; an examination of the current mafia organizational structure based on police reports and informant testimony; and the integration of information from justice collaborators.
Prosecutors are currently working to determine if mafia members intercepted telephone lines at the home of Judge Borsellino’s sister. While investigators have identified several positive leads regarding the Capaci massacre that killed Judge Falcone, officials note that significantly less is currently known regarding the specific dynamics of the Borsellino assassination.
