Viña del Mar authorities rescue 11 dogs from substandard dwelling

Municipal teams in Viña del Mar rescued 11 dogs from a substandard dwelling in the Nueva Aurora sector. The operation was conducted during a property eviction after inspections revealed deficient structural, hygiene, and living conditions.

Initial inspections by municipal personnel, Carabineros, and animal welfare organizations identified 17 dogs on the premises. Ultimately, 11 dogs required removal because the person in charge failed to meet deadlines to withdraw them. The intervention aimed to prevent the animals from being abandoned or left in public streets.

A contingency plan was coordinated across multiple municipal departments, including the veterinary team and the Legal Advisory Directorate, to secure alternative protection for the animals. Mayor Macarena Ripamonti stated that the operation provides necessary veterinary attention and improves the animals' quality of life.
