Via del Mare stadium receives preliminary clearance for Lecce-Roma match

The Via del Mare stadium in Lecce has received preliminary approval from the Provincial Commission for the Supervision of Public Entertainment to host the upcoming Serie A match between Lecce and Roma. While the facility has already been cleared for the Mediterranean Games, specific safety parameters for Serie A matches require further verification.

US Lecce has submitted technical reports and a construction schedule to ensure safety while stadium modernization works continue. Proposed measures include enhanced security and stewarding, strict exclusion of construction areas from public access, and ensuring clear emergency exit routes, potentially using temporary light towers. Some seating areas, such as the top rows of the East Stand, may remain closed to manage capacity and safety.

A final decision regarding the stadium's suitability for the match is expected following a meeting between stakeholders to confirm compliance with league-specific regulations. If the venue is deemed unfit, the match may be relocated to the Dall’Ara stadium in Bologna.
