Via Lietuva to install or renovate 55 km of pedestrian and bicycle paths

Via Lietuva has announced plans to install or renovate approximately 55 km of pedestrian and bicycle paths across various regions in Lithuania this year. This represents a 50 percent increase in the volume of work compared to last year, when 27 km were completed. Approximately 30 km of the current projects are already finished, with the remaining 25 km expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The total value of this year's projects exceeds 33.8 million euros, with a portion of the funding provided by the European Regional Development Fund. Beyond the current year, officials noted that nearly 500 km of new tracks are planned for the future to enhance sustainable mobility and connectivity.

In the Šakiai district, work is nearing completion on a 6.357 km path along regional road No. 140 (Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai), which aims to improve local connectivity and provide safer access to local landmarks such as the Zypliai manor.
