Via Maestra calls for national demonstration in Rome on October 17

The CGIL trade union and over one hundred associations under the Via Maestra alliance have called for a large-scale national demonstration in Rome on Saturday, October 17.

The mobilization aims to defend and implement the Italian Constitution against what organizers describe as an authoritarian shift and the centralization of power. Key objectives of the protest include advocating for peace, progressive taxation, universal public welfare, and environmental reconversion of the production system.

Additionally, the alliance seeks to address wage emergencies, job quality, and territorial inequalities. The demonstration will also serve as a protest against differentiated autonomy, electoral reform, the proposed premierato system, and legislation affecting the independence of the judiciary.
