Viadana Council Approves Urban Planning Variant for Gronda Nord Road Project

The municipal council of Viadana voted on July 28 to adopt a partial urban‑planning variant to the local Territorial Development Plan (Pgt) that will allow the continuation of the Gronda Nord road project. The amendment, approved unanimously, modifies the existing plan to enable the second construction lot between the SP 10 road of Cremona and the SP 59 in Viadana, linking Fenilrosso with the provincial road 59. Mayor Nicola Cavatorta said the change, made in coordination with the Province of Mantova, is intended to speed up the authorization process and improve mobility across the Casalasco‑Viadanese area, which suffers from heavy traffic on the Po River corridor. The variant does not start construction but is a prerequisite for the province to declare public utility and select a contractor for the works.

The project is seen as strategic for reducing congestion on State Road 358 and enhancing safety for motorists and residents.
