Viadana police identify eight individuals for illegal waste disposal
Local police in Viadana have identified eight individuals involved in illegal waste disposal since the beginning of 2026 using municipal video surveillance systems. The most recent incident occurred at the Cogozzo cemetery, where camera footage allowed authorities to identify the person responsible for incorrect waste disposal.
The municipality noted that these illicit activities compromise urban decorum and impose costs on the community. To combat this, the administration led by Mayor Nicola Cavatorta has sought funding to expand video surveillance to less visible areas.
Penalties for violations include administrative fines starting at 150 euros for incorrect disposal methods. For more serious cases involving the abandonment or uncontrolled deposit of waste, fines range from 1,500 to 18,000 euros. Additional sanctions may be applied to driver's licenses if a motor vehicle is used in the commission of the offense.
