Viadotto Anacoreta seismic upgrade secured with €15 million agreement
The presidents of the Molise Region, Francesco Roberti, and the Province of Campobasso, Giuseppe (Pino) Puchetti, signed an institutional agreement to carry out seismic retrofitting and safety work on the Viadotto Anacoreta. The 15‑million‑euro project is funded by €12 million from the national "Casa Italia" department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, plus €1.5 million each from the Molise Region and the Province of Campobasso.
The viaduct, a key link between the SS 647 "Fondovalle del Biferno" and the SP 80 Larino‑Guglionesi, has been closed to vehicles over 7.5 tonnes since the 2018 earthquakes. The agreement makes the Region the implementing and contracting authority, with its Civil Protection service handling design, tendering, execution, testing and reporting, while the Province will provide the structure, documentation and site access. Regional officials said the pact “represents a decisive step for the safety of a fundamental infrastructure for our territory.”
